Career Costume Guidelines

On October 31, students may wear a costume that represents a career or job; preferably one that they are interested in. Students who are not wearing an obvious costume should be in uniform.

 

All costumes must be in good taste. This means that it should not be offensive to anyone – teachers, students, grandma, etc. When in doubt, check with the dean, counselor or administrator.

 

Inappropriate items will be confiscated and NOT returned

  • No masks. Light to moderate face makeup is acceptable.  Full face paints are considered masks;
  • No weapons allowed (fake or real);
  • No attire that is sexually suggestive;
  • No pajamas or diapers;
  • No sleeveless or spaghetti strap tank tops or t-shirts;
  • No see through, mesh, or torn clothing or those exposing cleavage or midriff;
  • No tights, sweatpants, leggings, or yoga pants;
  • No short shorts, skirts, skorts, etc.Bottoms must pass the arms length test;
  • No open-toed, open heeled shoes, slippers or flip flops;
  • No hoods, hats, beanies, hair rags, doo rags, bandanas, scarves, headbands, etc.;
  • No clothing, jewelry, belt buckles, or any accessory that can be interpreted as gang or tagging crew related;
  • Nothing advertising or suggesting alcohol, tobacco, or any controlled substances;
  • Nothing expressing or suggesting profanity, acts of sex, racial slurs or concepts that are found to be offensive or aggressive;

Spirit Day Dress Code Guidelines

  • Students who are not wearing Spirit Day clothing must be in uniform.
  • No sleeveless, spaghetti strap or tank tops;
  • No see through, mesh, or torn clothing or those exposing cleavage or midriff;
  • No open-toed, open heeled shoes, slippers or flip flops;
  • No weapons allowed (fake or real);

  • No pajamas;
