Los Angeles Unified is committed to providing every student in our District with a safe learning environment. As a part of the Every School Safe initiative, throughout the school year, students will participate in presentations during assemblies and homeroom that will teach strategies to help them recognize concerns and how to ask for help.

Parents will be invited to a presentation regarding the same topic for that month. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions of this series on Safety.

Our first presentation is on Tuesday at 4 pm via zoom and this month’s topic is Child Sexual Grooming Awareness for Parents.

       Saturday Tutoring will begin this weekend on October 14, 2023, 8:00 - 12:20 pm. After-School Tutoring will start next week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:15 pm.

          The Cool Tropics Art Contest is here! Calling all LAUSD students to submit artwork for the Cool Tropics Contest with a chance to win fabulous prizes. This contest is open to all grades. 

    Below are 3 documents: The first explains the contest. The second and third pages are the rules for the artwork and the art page. We need to beat Brower County who had 1,200 entries! If we get 5-10 entries per school, we will get there!

LA County Department of Public Health is partnering with LA County Library to provide FREE flu vaccinations, the updated 2023-24 COVID-19 vaccine, and Mpox vaccine. Health insurance is not required.

 

Make an appointment online at your preferred library location to avoid longer wait times. Appointments are available on myturn.ca.gov. Search by zip code.

 

*Vaccine clinics are open for walk-ins. Vaccines available while supplies last. Vaccine brands are subject to availability, and we are unable to guarantee them at this time.

 

MPOX vaccine only available to eligible groups. For more details, please visit the MPOX info page.

 

The updated 2023-24 COVID-19 vaccine is available to people aged 12 and older.

 

LA County Department of Public Health recommends flu vaccinations for all persons 6 months of age and older, including healthy children and adults. It is especially important for those who:

 

  • Are children 5 years and younger
  • Are 65 years of age and older
  • Are pregnant or just had a baby
  • Live in a nursing home or long-term care home
  • Have a weakened immune system
  • Have chronic medical condition (asthma, heart disease and stroke, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, cancer)
    Live with or care for someone who is more likely to have flu complications
    Are a healthcare provider.

Conferences will be for approximately 5-7 minutes, on a first-come first-served basis, per teacher.

Other useful information and activites happening on Thursday:

  • Counselors and The BSAP team will be available to discuss various student support services available to Peary students including but not limited tutoring, intervention and counseling. 
  • To honor our journey to the 50th day of school, all are welcome to dress in 50’s era attire on Thursday.
  • School Site Council (SSC) Meeting will be held on Thursday at 3:30 pm in Stephan Hall or via Zoom.  
  • The Computer Lab will be open on Thursday from 4:15 – 5:00 pm to assist parents with the eChoices Magnet Application.
  • The Parent Center will be open on Thursday between 8am - 3pm and 5pm - 7pm to answer questions and help parents log-in and navigate The Parent Portal.
